My neighbour said this horrendous experience put him right off The Beatles (whom he had loved as a band) - which is a pity of course My neighbour's colleague got so fed up at the ranting he snapped and bluntly told JL 'where to go' and the pair of engineers walked out of the house and reported straight back to their boss ! (who told them he'd sent another pair of workers out and that others had 'problems' with Lennon before !) - significantly the two telephone engineers were NOT disciplined in any way for walking out without completing the job (the workers did not have to take abuse from customers) JL replied 'Do you know who I am ?' (as if he saw himself as mega important) they said 'yes we do !!' The neighbour told me that he and a co-worker were called out to a large home to install discreet telephone lines (so as to not spoil a garden view etc) they were shown in by a guy who must have been a secretary or something and got to work.then the home owner arrived - it was John Lennon ! - but while they were thrilled to meet him John sadly proved to be an extremely unpleasant character to the two telephone engineers, calling them 'pigs' and shouting abusively at them ! - they said they were just doing the job allocated to them but JL was still very nasty, my neighbour told me he said 'we don't have to take this from you' I heard from a neighbour - a guy who was a telephone engineer and had lived and worked in Weybridge (where JL lived) that he'd once met John Lennon in the line of his work.and it was NOT a pleasant experience at all ! Re challenging people's views on John I can tell you the following I would like to think - and sincerely HOPE - that John had overcome all his personal demons and 'issues' in his latter years and was a far happier and content guy when we lost him as to be frank he wasn't a happy person earlier

I am a big fan of John's music and he was my fav Beatle in the early days - but I have no illusions about him and don't see him through 'Rose coloured specs' as many do since his terrible death
